Logorrhoea

I have so much to talk about and no solidarity of thought so this blog is yet another version of word diarrhea (Which I learned from endurancegirl is actually LOGORRHOEA!).

***My current life:

I have officially turned bum and moved back in with my parents. I'll be spending the next 3 months in Milwaukee. It's really, really nice to be back home for awhile. I've been in Cleveland for 8 years and my trips home have gotten less and less frequent over the years. Now I have a large block of time to have dinners with my parents, take my nephew to the movies, go to a Packer game with my brother, see the Badgers at homecoming and take a family vacation to Vegas. It's such a wonderful opportunity. While I'm here I'll be doing a self-made Sports Medicine elective with some highly talented surgeons in the area, and then will be flying around the country to INTERVIEW for December and January

***INTERVIEWING!

Yes, residency interviewing season is upon us. I will be applying to Emergency Medicine residency programs all over the country. My first stop is Orlando Florida, which I have, by complete coincidence, scheduled for the Tuesday after Clearwater. So.... I'm going to the HALF Ironman World Championships!!! Wooohoooo, it's the Ironman double. Which would be so much more impressive had I raced either one....

Anywho, I have interviews currently scheduled in Orlando, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Nashville, Phoenix and Cleveland. I am EAGERLY awaiting hearing from programs in Davis, Tucson, Albuquerque, Denver and Charlotte. Come on, give a girl some love!

***Body image

Why is it that I am constantly battling this inflated image of my body size? I'm sure I'm not the only one out there, but being in Kona made me feel like a fat pig. This is not anything new to me because unless I am <115 pounds I feel huge. The weird thing is, whenever I see a pic of myself I think I'm fat, but then 6 months later I look at the same pic through a completely different lens. WTF??? Don't worry, as I told Paulo I don't have nearly enough will power to develop an eating disorder....

***They try to make me go to rehab, I said yes, yes yes!

I am officially on the full blown rehab trail for my shin problem that has been nagging me on my right leg. I took 2 weeks off running, have been doing core body strengthening and balance exercises and am now running 5 whole minutes every day (with a 55 minute elliptical warm-up). Watch out, though, next week it's moving up to 10. Hopefully the leg will cooperate because I really want to run the Vegas Half marathon in December

***More sports medicine blogs coming, I just need a little bit of motivation and time. Thanks for all the comments on the Kona blogs!

Hey! I enjoy reading your blog amongst all the tri-bloggers... This post made me laugh because I remember distinctly learning in high school English class the actual word for diarrhea of the mouth: logorrhea. So, the word actually exists! Random thought I know....
Anyway, good luck with your interviews!

You know I'm with ya in the post-Kona fatty feelings. Got the dietitian on speed dial now!

hmmm how to put this in a way that doesn't sound strange..? okay there is no way to do that..

I for one love the mirror. "I never seen a mirror I didn't like" is what I say nearly ever time I pass one. I spend time in front of the mirror showing off (in a light hearted way). Getting undressed with a mirror around ALWAYS calls for a strip show. If there is a camera around I'm always looking to have my photo taken.. these may sound a little over the top but I use to be very much on the other side of the fence with all of this which was becoming unhealthy..

cheers.

Good luck with the job interviews, and enjoy your three months in Milwaukee. Loved your Kona posts - the pictures were amazing and your tales from the med tent gave some fantastic advice.

I'm sure you might have thought yourself fat in Kona with all those great athletes. But once back in reality of Milwaukee or Cleveland, you'll feel like a model. Come out towards where I work and you would definitely be top 10.

BS well in the interviews. ha

It's pretty cool that you are going to be able to spend some time back with your family - and the trip to Vegas sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy the HIM World Champs. That sounds like lots of fun. Good luck with the interviewing. There is a very large triathlon community here in Phoenix...maybe you will find a job here.

Good luck with the interviews..hopefully you'll get a job in a warmer local, because the midwest has got to be depressing in the winter...

Welcome back to Milwaukee! I've worked at Froedtert for last 20 years-would love to have you get residency here. But since this state is so damn sedentary, we probably have an abundance of sports medicine docs here already! LOL
The Packers and Badgers are kind of sucky this year. A-rod is doing pretty good for the Pack, we'll see. Life after Brett Farve is rough!
Good surgeons??? Here at Froedtert??? LOL!

After 3 months in WI, you'll feel downright anorexic. My girlfriend is 5 lbs+ her college racing weight (90 lbs) and I'm 20 lbs mine (135 lbs.) We remember our former selves, however, we realize we're getting older and need to move to Boulder to feel fat and slow. Don't sweat it. Weight is nothing, speed is everything. BTW, Packers games are meant to doze off to after a long run...:)

Aghhh, well Cleveland will be missing you while you are away! Best of luck with the interviewing and that body image. I am sure most would agree you are quite the cutie pie!

Okay I have been thinking more of the whole perception of yourself in photos or mirror. You must have seen them photos in psychology class that were upside down.. I seen one of the Queen and of Abraham Linkon. When looking at them upside down you can not see anything wrong with them but when you flip the book over you can see that there mouth and eyes were cut out and placed back upside down.. Th point is that your mind fills in what it thinks it sees. I guess my point is you should put more focus on how good you do look.. ;)

cheers.
