I have a lot of fun memories of winter running. Heading down to the towpath and trudging through the snow. Running down the road last February, passing a woman on skis. But I always seem to block out the one thing that I really hate about winter running. The fact that by the time I'm dressed for the conditions, I feel like this...
It ends up being more of a waddle than anything else.
But then, when I'm frustrated with running, if I'm having a bad day, I always think back a few months. Back then I really didn't know if I would ever run again. It didn't seem like the knee was getting any better. I was starting to resign myself to the life of an aquabiker. But now I have run 22.5 miles this week! I know it pales in comparison to Ironman training weeks. but it is such a huge victory to me.
And.... I'm racing again this weekend.

I started running in May so this will be my first winter. I don't know if I can handle the cold. Guess we will see.
Don't believe you!!! I have seen you all dressed up in your cute winter gear and there is nothing marshmellow about it!!!
Can't wait to see you tomorrow!
That picture of the marshmallow man is so hilarious! OMG -you always crack me up with what you write and post!! Good to hear you are running again - good luck in the race this weekend and come back with a story!
Hook yourself up with some of that fancy smancy cold weather running gear. It's light and keeps you warm. I had a blast this morning in my tights. I was HAWT and everything :-)
I look forward to running with you again. Even in the snow. Let me know.
i haven't commented here before, but occasionally check in. it's so awesome that you are back up and running! i was sidetracked by an injury, too, so i know how frustrating, depressing, etc it can be - way to hang tough. enjoy your winter running adventures :)
Glad you're back running!
It was 82 degrees here in Austin. Yes, it is still December here in Austin. There were parents at the pool bringing their kids there to swim.
