Went to CSU master's practice this morning and had an awesome workout. I was a little scared when I saw that we had an impending set of 100's
4 x 100 on 1:45
1 x 100 kick on 3:00
4 x 100 on 1:35
2 x 100 kick on 3:00
4 x 100 on 1:30
3 x 100 kick on 3:00
(note, this is in the practice pool which is yards)
I thought- no way am I going to be able to cut this set. So I moved to the slow lane.
I did the first 100 and looked at the clock
1:20
WTF? I haven't swam a 1:20 in practice, well... ever! I did another one
1:20
No way this can't be right. Another one
1:25
So I asked the coach- is this a short pool? Nope 25 yards.
Sweet.

Wow! Great swim! You are going to be in killer shape...
Sweet!!! Kicking myself for not having gotten up this morning! I'll see you Wedensday... if you make it. I have resigned myself to making at least Wednesday this week if not Wednesday and Friday!
Awesome Times!! You're going to make me work harder on Tuesday nights aren't you!!! Sweetness! Steve loves having someone to push him (like third person self reference??!?)
You kick serious booty in the swim! This winter hopefully I can work to be half the swimmer you are!
Dontcha just LOVE yard pools??! :) That is awesome! Great job fishy!
That's faster than I can swim. Nice job!!!
Wow! Swimming does rock, for you!
By the way, in response to your post on the forum, I think you should definitely keep swimming with the masters group for a while.
But at some point you should start doing some longer intervals 400, 800, 1000. I would probably say swim 3x a week for a while, then about 4-5 months out swim with the masters once a week and swim the long stuff once a week in the lake.
My volume increased steadily to 6400 meters in the late spring then most of my workouts were about 4000 since then.
Regardless I doubt you'll have any problems on the IM swim. Oh and yes you swim faster than I do, so take my suggestions as just my own opinions.
